From Architecture, with logs.

In the ever-evolving world of architectural discourse, sustainability is a central yet often misused theme. The proposal for the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale aims to shed light on vital aspects of the process, often eclipsed by the allure of wooden structures. Austria's prominence in timber architecture offers inspiration and a chance to delve deeper into ecology.

While sustainability discussions tend to fixate on end-results like eco-friendly timber buildings and green technologies, we pause to reevaluate the crucial journey from forest to architecture. "From Architecture, with logs" invites us to trace the path of timber sourcing, uncovering revelations and reflections beyond the façade of greenwashing.

This exhibition transcends showcasing Austrian timber craftsmanship; it's a voyage at the intersection of nature and design, challenging us to confront the strengths and shadows of this practice. Rooted in the global discourse on architecture and ecology, it critically examines Austria's role in timber construction. It will evolve to align with future themes, contributing to international and Austrian architectural dialogues while revealing the complexities of sourcing ethical timber and emphasizing respectful, regenerative practices and addressing their impact on Austria's forests and workers.
