The Forest apartment & the Green Dragon.

The Forest Apartment is a renovation that redefines an existing two-story flat through precise spatial interventions and custom furniture.

Our approach was to establish a new order by integrating our intervention while preserving the apartment’s original character. Apart from the staircase, nothing has been demolished - showing that significant transformations can happen through careful, considered gestures.

At its core stands The Green Dragon, an elliptical spiral staircase crafted from timber and tinted in a distinct green hue. More than just a circulation element, it serves as a sculptural anchor - central to the apartment’s identity, much like a traditional fireplace that once brought people together.

The pitched roof has been reconfigured, enclosing its lower sections to create ample storage and closet space without compromising the livable area. This process of subtraction and insertion allows the new and the existing to coexist, enriching the space’s narrative.

The deliberate use of green defines the intervention with a bold visual language, standing in contrast to the natural wood and original materials.

Ultimately, the project is about revealing and reshaping - carving new possibilities within an existing framework.
